James City County has a median household income of more than $107,000 but relies heavily on low-paying jobs in the tourism industry to keep our economy afloat. We aren’t creating the kinds of career opportunities we want for our children and grandchildren. As your Supervisor, I will work with the private sector, our schools, and community organizations to bring better-paying jobs to our young people and other workers who want to succeed.
If you work in James City County you should be able to afford to live in James City County! We know the kinds of housing we need to maintain our vibrant community. Whether it’s housing for our teachers and emergency services providers or the healthcare professionals that allow our population to age in place or retire to assisted living, we need more housing that is not only affordable but attainable.
James City County has grown tremendously in the past decade. We must make careful decisions that provide opportunities for everyone but protect our natural and historic resources.
